* Montreal MarathonMontreal Marathon Location: Montreal, Ontario, Canada
Participants: Over 1,600 runners.
Description: Escaped to Europe while still in Canada. With its fine architecture, cobblestone streets, overflowing flower boxes, and French-speaking spectators, you'll see why Montreal is known as North America's Paris. You get a tour of the city, the Biosphere, the Casino de Montreal, the Gilles Villeneuve Circuit racetrack), cathedrals, mansions and the 1976 Olympic Stadium. While the course is generally flat, you do need to be prepared for a gradual climb from about mile 15 to 18.5, and then another slope at 24.
