			<content:encoded><![CDATA[<p>On Sun August 21, 2011 I finished my 5th triathlon in Orillia. It was a sprint distance &#8211; 750 meter <span class='wp_keywordlink_affiliate'><a href="http://truerunning.com/tag/swim/" title="View all posts in swim" target="_blank">swim</a></span>, 33 km <span class='wp_keywordlink_affiliate'><a href="http://truerunning.com/tag/bike/" title="View all posts in bike" target="_blank">bike</a></span> and 7 km <span class='wp_keywordlink_affiliate'><a href="http://truerunning.com/tag/run/" title="View all posts in run" target="_blank">run</a></span>.   Overall highlights of the race:</p>
<p>The <span class='wp_keywordlink_affiliate'><a href="http://truerunning.com/tag/swim/" title="View all posts in swim" target="_blank">swim</a></span> is a beach start, everyone <span class='wp_keywordlink_affiliate'><a href="http://truerunning.com/tag/run/" title="View all posts in run" target="_blank">run</a></span>s into the water at the same time.  They also start in waves according to your age group.  One loop and keep the orange buoys to the right of you at all times.</p>
<p>The Bike was a super hill to start.   I think 40% of the course was uphill and the rest was downhill.  The end is on a downhill too.  Just be careful of the cars because near the middle you <span class='wp_keywordlink_affiliate'><a href="http://truerunning.com/tag/bike/" title="View all posts in bike" target="_blank">bike</a></span> in a road full of cars and don&#8217;t care if they hit someone.</p>
<p>The <span class='wp_keywordlink_affiliate'><a href="http://truerunning.com/tag/run/" title="View all posts in run" target="_blank">run</a></span> starts off on a down hill and onto city roads.  There are cops at all the major intersections.  I thought it was great that were plenty of water stations supplying gatorade or water.   The ending was downhill.  The finish line was &#8216;around the bend; of the triathlo.</p>
<p>There are no medals given to the finishers.  Great race, I will do it again.</p>

<p>We started with out 15 minute warmup.</p>
<ul>
<li>Ran up to 100 meters and back down</li>
<li>Rest</li>
<li>Ran up 200 meters and back down</li>
<li>Rest</li>
<li>Ran up 300 meters and back down</li>
<li>Rest</li>
</ul>
<p>I did 4 sets of this.  I was wheezing and so out of breath by the 4th set.   But good for my legs.  I hope don&#8217;t tire myself out for the Sunday 10 miler race.</p>

			<content:encoded><![CDATA[<p>I was looking around for Ironman&#8217;s.  Not that I will be able to do one next year.  My friend said that I should practice more before attempting one.  I looked anyways.   I saw the first-ever Ironman triathlon in New York City and New Jersey!! As soon as I saw that I was so ready to sign up.  But it&#8217;s all sold out! No way.  The entry fee is close to $900.  Seriously? People are crazy.    DARN! It&#8217;s sold out.  I&#8217;m not prepared to pay $1200 for entry fees.   The registration only opened up June 15.  I will have to mark my calendar next year to sign up for 2013.</p>

			<content:encoded><![CDATA[<p>Hey everyone.  I was taking an extended break from my site and let you know that I&#8217;ve completed my 4th triathlon now! I did the Ottawa Olympic <span class='wp_keywordlink_affiliate'><a href="http://truerunning.com/tag/triathlon/" title="View all posts in Triathlon" target="_blank">Triathlon</a></span> on Sat July 30 and Bracebridge Olympic <span class='wp_keywordlink_affiliate'><a href="http://truerunning.com/tag/triathlon/" title="View all posts in Triathlon" target="_blank">Triathlon</a></span> Sun August 7.  They were both tough but I was a little more prepared in the Bracebridge and a little slower.   I just want to hug my swim coach!!! I&#8217;ve come such a long way.</p>
<p>Both Olympic <span class='wp_keywordlink_affiliate'><a href="http://truerunning.com/tag/triathlon/" title="View all posts in Triathlon" target="_blank">Triathlon</a></span> Distances were: 1500 meter swim, 40km bike, 10 km run</p>
<p>The Ottawa was practically a flat course.   The swim was pretty good.  It was a beach start, so everyone just ran in at the same time when the gun went off.   I stood near the back wanting to be the last person swimming, but there was always someone behind me.   The course for cycling was a 10km out and back, so we had to do 4 laps of it to make 40kms.  The course was pretty flat.  The running portion was super hilly.  It was a 5km out and back, so we had to do 2 laps of it.  Then the grass finish.  I got my first ever Triathlon medal.  It was a tiny thing but hey, better than nothing.  I will do this race again.</p>
<p>Ottawa Result:  Overall Time: 3:26.  Swim 2:59 min/100 meter, Bike 25.8 km/hr, Run 6:08 km/hr</p>
<p>It was a Time trial swim start in Bracebridge.  We had to line up according to race bib number.  We went one by one in 5 second intervals.  We lapped the Muskoka river twice.  I swam a lot faster this time.  But the cycling I did very poorly.  It was really hilly and my legs are so weak! I have to start working on my cycling more.  Running was good.  I think I was too tired by then to see which was uphill or downhill.  I promised myself to walk up some hills, but I never saw them again.  No participation medals but got a nice cool dri fit tshirt at the end.  I would definitely do this race again.</p>
<p>Bracebridge Result: Overall Time: 3:28.  Swim 2.44 min/100 meter, Bike 23.4 km/hr, Run 6 min/km</p>
<p>Off to my next race!</p>

			<content:encoded><![CDATA[<p>I missed a whole 3 days of workout last week! From Friday &#8211; Sunday I didn&#8217;t swim, bike, or run.  But I did do a lot of walking.  I went to visit my boyfriend in NY and we must have walked 10 miles.  I guess that is considered exercise.  My legs are a little sore from that.  I also wanted to enter the <span class='wp_keywordlink_affiliate'><a href="http://truerunning.com/tag/nyc/" title="View all posts in NYC" target="_blank">NYC</a></span> Olympic <span class='wp_keywordlink_affiliate'><a href="http://truerunning.com/tag/triathlon/" title="View all posts in Triathlon" target="_blank">Triathlon</a></span> in August, but it&#8217;s sold out.  What a bum<span class='wp_keywordlink_affiliate'><a href="http://truerunning.com/tag/me/" title="View all posts in me" target="_blank">me</a></span>r.  Will have to wait until next year to see if I&#8217;m lucky enough to dip my head in the Hudson River.</p>

<p>I was pretty tired afterwards.  I&#8217;m looking forward to the open water swims which starts next week!  Lake Ontario here I come!</p>
